Hi all, im thinking of getting an eeePC and upgrading it to 2G of memory. The main things im looking ofr is portability and ability to run Adobe Photoshop and dreamweaver. Do you think that an eeePC w/ 2g of ram is more than capable to run these apps on Win XP? Any recommendations?

    Thanks!

Photoshop at 800x480 in a 7" screen?? Not for me, but if you can deal with lack of screen real-estate and small size....

OK, on the other point -- will it be "capable"? Yes. Will it run well? Probably not, it has a Celeron 900 processor which isn't going to be a good choice for cpu-intensive tasks like PS filters and such, esp on higher-res files. I've never used dreamweaver, but I'd expect similar comments would apply there.

Photoshop on an Eee? I'd say that's highly impractical. Dreamweaver maybe yes but I think Photoshop is a big no no. I think some people are overestimating the capabilities of the Eee too much. Yes it can do the basics but it wasn't designed for the use of applications like Photoshop.

Once you clock the CPU up to 900Mhz it should run better, I heard of ppl running both on the EeePC, you should check out eeeuser.com you'll find out more on what ppl are running.

I love my Eee, but there's no way I'd run Photoshop on it. The screen is, simply, too small.

    External monitor ftw.

But yeah, I ran CS2 through my Eee, and it worked.

Bought to say, I have run CS2 on an ancient laptop with similar specs as the EEE with a larger screen. I design/code and see no issues with Dreamweaver and as long as you reconfig your workspace and shortcuts, CS2 should be ok. At work I use CS3 and DW on a 14.1" inch monitor because my employer is very cheap...I have reconfigured it and now it works just like on my beast at home. Good luck with your designing.

LOL Photoshop CS3 on eeePC? You must be kidding! talk about lack of productivity, I would suggest Photoshop CS or lower in this case and only use it when you absolutely need to.

Dreamweaver doesn't make sense either, the number of work panels and tools on the side would only allow you very little space to do any WYSIWYG editing or source coding.
