I intend to replace my Acer TM800 soon and became interested in Asus. Particulary the V6J

Problem is that I know nobody that has any experience with the brand.

By luck I stumbled onto this site and hope any of you Asus owners can help answering my questions.

1.) Are Asus laptops quiet laptops? I hate loud laptops where the fan is constantly running.
2.) Do Asus laptops have heatproblems. On my Acer the left wristplace on my laptop get's very warm which is very uncomfortable.

Hope someone can give me some more info and hopefully someone that already has the V6J can give me some of their experiences.

    Thanks

    1) I find that on MOST Asus systems, once the fan comes on...it'll stay on, but it is VERY quiet. No whine. Just a small "whirr"-ing
    2) It depends on the model. The W3/Z63 series get a little warm on the right palmrest...but nothing too bad. The V6 series also gets a little warm...but nothing too bothersome either. It's almost expected since those systems are packing so much power into such a small/thin chassis.

    1) Asus laptops do tend to keep the fans running if you're Plugged in, but you can always setup and fine tune your laptop so it runs cool and quiet without much trouble. Running off the battery they are silent. My Z70Va is silent, because I set the videocard to a low setting.

    2) My sister's friend's Z63A, which I setup, is very quiet, and not as warm as people say it is on the palmrest, but of course it depends on the harddrive you get installed in it.

I've seen some of Acer's top models in person and they seem okay, but kinda bulky and I don't know how it will hold up. Asus products on the otherhand are, when built correctly and without defects, almost perfect.

    Cheers,
    Mike

... they "tend" to keep the fans running, because when you're plugged in and using powergear - you're in high performance or super performance mode which sets the cpu at the max..... max cpu means max heat and therefore max fan..
... Asus' way of looking at it is if you're plugged in, you're doing some serious work..... They don't look at it as some people do....... which is basically to leave the notebook plugged in till they need to take it somewhere.. It's designed to always be somewhere... even if that's just on the lay-z-boy while watching tv.....
