    hi,

i have finally took the plunge into the laptop market again after 8 months of research. I previously had two failed attemps with substandard Acer laptops (the build quality wasn't upto much). Now I hope to put that all behind me with an Asus A6km-Q013H, the specs are as follows:-

    AMD Turion™ 64 Mobile MT32 (1.8ghz)
    HD 100 GB (4200rpm)
    15.4" (WXGA + Colour Shine)
nVidia GeForce Go 7300 TurboCache Supporting 256MB
    DVD-/+RW Dual format
    1024Mb DDR
    4 in 1 Card Reader...

i went for the 64bit option as i need my laptop to last 3-4years...

what do you think of my choice???...

Pretty good. The only thing that doesn't look that great is the 4200 RPM hard drive...but that shouldn't be SO bad.

for gaming/editing, that hard drive may slow you down. you could always upgrade it in the future, and use that hard drive in an enclosure as a storage drive. otherwise, looks to be a great machine, enjoy it!

Congrats! After doing so much research, what ended up selling you on the Asus?

Interestingly, that's the same speed HDD provided on the V6VA. I suppose that's the trade-off for the IPS Screen.

    Awesome~!

    Welcome to the Asus community~!

I say this because I know you're going to buy it and not let up and get something else.

You will be happy as heck when you get it, because not many people have Asus laptops, which is rapidly changing, but I'm glad I don't see 100 Asus Z70Va's in my school's library and study areas around campus as I do with the Dells I see everywhere. Sheeeeeeesh.

    :D

    Cheers,
    Mike

    thanks for your replies guys...

the reason i was sold Asus was the fact they were a ODM, even though they haven't been making laptops under the own name for a long time it was good to know alot of the big boys in the industry pay Asus to make their laptops for them.

the fact they gave a two year warranty as well helped... i have to admit before doing my research i had never heard of Asus at all, they were always specialist Laptops sold in select shops here in London (tottenham court rd).

lastly something i have just started using skype in a big way, and the 1.3m pixel web cam with mic will make it so much easier. there will be no need to plug in an external web cam just pick up my laptop and i will be able to keep in contact with everyone in any room or the garden of my house.
