    Hi all,

I have this strange problem with the fingerprint reader with my Asus F9s.

Kinda once in a while the device is not recognized and it says my fingerprint reader should be disconnected or there are no drivers installed, some crap like that. Then i did a reinstallation of the fingerprint reader drivers and did a restart and it seems to work fine after that.

The same problem creps back after 3 days! i adpoted the same procedure and it works again.. It is annoying to do it again and again. Does anyone know the real cause of this problem, is there any way to rectify it?

    Please help me!!

I would say the cause is sloppy driver coding from ASUS -- but I can't be sure, of course, there might for instance be a conflict with software you've installed.

I'd first try updating the drivers from support.asus.com . If that doesn't work, I'd try getting some 3rd party drivers from the FP reader manufacturer (if they are provided).

You can also try restoring Windows to a point where the fingerprint reader worked well.

    Post back with results.

Try a recovery, if it's Vista it should let you select your language.

Then again i have this issue. I searched google for this issue, there seems to one forum which suggests it might be a problem with windows vista and it requires a hotfix for the same. Anyone who can suggest which hotfix would help in resolving this issue???

I wouldn't know. You need to search the Microsoft Knowledge Base for your particular problem.

I could not get the details EBE.. last night i downloaded the latest drivers and installed the same (for Fingerprint reader and TPD). I also installed VISTA SP1 hopin that thus might include the hotfix. But let me see. I would need to observe for a few days to check if this problem still persists.

Thanks.. but just if in case you get this fix please do post.
