I can t install forceware 158 nor 162 for my 8600gt...it says that it cannot find a compatible driver or something...is it normal?
Also i don t feel that my 8600gt is powerfull as it should be...for exemple if i put everything on the low setting in lost planet i get about 18 fps and even less...and for some reason i just cannot play with the dx10 version, i m playing the full game not the demo.

    dl vid drivers from here

    http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/

ones from nvidia website do not work right with many laptop vid cards. experiment with the best version from that site.

lost planet is known to have crappy fps, maybe its bad porting, maybe vid card just dont cut it, maybe drivers suck, but ull have to live with it.

dx10 is not optimised very well at all yet, if you want to play lost planet play the dx9 version it will run 5x better and looks 99.9% the same.

Did you download the modified INF and then replace the INF in the installation folder with the modified one?

Here are the steps that you need to take to install the drivers from laptopvideo2go:

    1. Download the driver installation zip.
    2. Download the INF for that version (so you need to make sure that there is actually one for that version, if not, find a new version).
    3. Unzip the driver installation into a folder.
    4. Copy the modded INF file into the folder you just unzipped the install files to and override the old INF.
    5. Run the install.

So, at this page http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/drivers you will find a table of all of the drivers.
If the INF column has the text INF in it then that version has a modded INF file available.

For the sake of example we will use 165.01.

    1. Click on 165.01. This will take you to a forum thread.
    2. At the top you will see driver and Modded INF, download both of these.
      This page also contains:
      1. The OS.
      2. A list of cards that the driver is meant for.
      3. Known issues (if any)
      4. Other detailed information.
    3. Open the file that downloaded when you clicked driver (16501.exe) and unzip it somewhere you will remember (desktop is easy, just create a folder for it).
    4. Once that is done, copy over the Modded INF you downloaded and paste it into the folder you unzipped the driver files too. It should tell you that the file already exist "Do you want to override?" (or something) say YES.
    5. Run setup.exe to install the drivers.

    I hope this helps :D.

thanks a lot for the answer! it worked and dx 10 works too.
But i still don t understand why i get such low fps in all the games i played so far on my g1s ( two worlds , halo 2 and lost planet). It s that slow that i start to think that my overclocked geforce 6600 gtx was better....I would love to get some help concerning this issu.
