as u can see i have hard decision to make and i really dont know what to do anymore
after enxt week im leaving on my vacation and i really wanted to buy a laptop before i leave so i can take it with me
i was about to buy g1s when i noticed that c90s suppose to come out at the end of may but it did not, and now i dont know what to do
if i should wait for c90s or should i just buy g1s
i will be using my laptop mostly for gaming and watching movies, and thats why i wanted to buy c90s but if i have to wait for it and buy it after i come back from vacation im not going to be really happy about that
the only thing that worries me about g1s is the 256mb gpu and im not really sure if im going to be able to play all the games that i want on higher settings
so can anyone help me with this decision?

What games? 256MB of memory should be fine for most games.

I wouldn't trust a speculated date of June 5th. I'd say go ahead and pick up the G1S since you know it's out.

Although you'd obviously have to buy it in the store or something because a laptop can take like 2 weeks to configure and ship, no?

I think the c90's are shipping now from a few places.

You better not let your impatience get the best of you tho. That one vacation with no notebook wont be nearly as bad as spending the next 2 or 3 years with the wrong one when you wish you had gotten the other.

Im still at a 3way tie myself between the G1S, G2S, and C90. As much as I wanted to slide over to gentech and buy one. I will wait for the c90 reviews to come out and see what they say about the heat/noise/battery life ect.

As is you can configure a c90 that is stronger than a G1S for about 500$ less, then of all things you may have a stronger video card to put in it soon on the market. Those possibilities and privileges are too much to pass on and buy prematurely.

Im also waiting word on the C91, with the santa rosa mobo.

yea and thats why i really dont know what i should do
for the price of g1s i can configure the c90s so that it would be one of the best laptops on the market and thats why it is so hard for me to chose g1s
do you know which places they are shipping the c90s from?

I was just hunting around on google late at night. I dont know where I was. I also said I "think" for a reason. It may have just been a preorder.

I even think I saw some on ebay.

However its worthy saying all the places I ran into that were shiping had a much higher price than say gentech. So it would be pointless to buy from them.

    QFT!

I think the least we can do is wait for some preliminary reviews before making the decision. Right now all we have is the G1S/G2S review and nothing yet of the C90. And I know the C90 will be faster but the question is how much heat and battery life can we tolerate? Once those questions has been answered, I think it would be better to make the decision. It's tough to wait, I hate it too, but the flexibility and price/performance of C90 is well worth it.

well what is special about c90s is that it is fully customizable which means that you can change anything you want and keep it up to date so it will last longer than other laptops, and also its faster since it can use the x6800 2.93ghz it also has 512mb gpu and g1s has only 256mb besides that there are also couple differences between the two but that is mostly it

it depends on what you want to have inside but almost the top notch configuration will be about the same price as g1s or even cheaper

Come on... just wait for it, bro. The C90s should be out in 1- 2 weeks. I have been waiting for it since March, when there were rumors about it. You simply cannot beat the price/performance ratio of the C90s. The G1s is like a Porche, stylish and agile, but overpriced. The C90s is more about muscle power, like a Mustang.

    C90s price-performance sure beats G1s completely,wait a couple days,and you'll save hundreds of dollars
beside its upgradeable parts, there would be many items coming soon(i hope its 12cell battery)..
don't talk bout battery life,or the processor rocks like the sun. its all bout games :D

well the price of c90s is almost just like g1s and c90s is a little better in performance so yes its better to wait for c90s, since it would be better for gaming etc.
c90s is suppose to come out this month but there is no certain release date

You really don't know your cars my friend. The Asus G1S is not a Porsche, if anything it would be a Porsche Boxster, not even a Boxster S. The Asus C90 is more along the lines of a new Pontiac GTO. Extreme horsepower for not that much money. Only not a pontiac... More along the lines of a Mazda as far as performance and reliability. Sorry to nitpick, but the C90 is WAY too much bang for the buck to be considered a mere mustang.

It could also be considered a Lotus Elise.

Very nice choice Alex. And once you upgrade the video card on the C90, that would turn it into a Lotus Exige.

God I am such a hopeless gearhead sometimes.

As a car enthusiast. I would put the c90 as a s65 amg (604hp & 728lb ft). It has lots of horsepower (cpu & gpu power), a bit on the heavy side (weight & battery life). Then the g1s would be a s63 amg (507hp & 465lb ft), it has less power compare to the c90, but still has way much more than what you normally see on the road. Still pretty heavy in weight and battery life. Under most conditions, these cars/laptops have pretty much same performance, but when taken to the track/stressing the laptop, the c90 would have an advantage. I feel these cars represent the laptops very well except in terms of price. But it is a way better choice than a lotus or hummer.

Lotus: very light (don't believe the c90 is)
Hummer: Shouldn't even be here, performance is nothing, useless. (I don't believe the c90 has weak performance?) Not to offend anyone, but seriously why are they even making these so called "cars" ? They are so gas guzzling and has extremely weak performance. Each time I see someone driving their Hummers with big shiny rims, I have a good laugh at them, seeing their foolishness. Don't worry, its not because I'm jealous of them.

For the performance though, it is the lightest on the market (it is lighter than the G1S)

For a laptop to be like a lotus, it would have to be smaller than 15.4in and still have some gaming capability. The c90 is just too big to be considered a lotus. They are really light.

Bad comparisons. Weight of the c90 and the g1 are almost the same. C90 is actually thinner though. Your comparing a muscle car to an exotic, looks vs power (though both are powerful.)
