    g1s without windows vista preinstalled

    does anyone know if its possible to purchase a g1s in the US without vista installed already, and possibly save a bit of money?

    doesn't exist. if anything, you would probably have to pay extra if you wanted xp b/c your reseller would have to install it himself.

    Im really sure I saw somewhere that had it like that, probably mixing it up with the C90 tho.

    I have not seen it sold anywhere without Vista. If there were such an option (and a price reduction to go with it), it would remove one of my objections to this machine and might be enough to make me buy it.

    I really really really don't feel like paying for a Vista license right now. My primary OS is Linux and I do have an XP license that I can move to a new machine so I want to pay for a Vista license right now about as much as I want to lick an electric socket.

    It is even worst when dealers sell a crippled Vista license instead of the real deal: that is, when the only thing you get is a preinstalled copy with a rescue partition instead of the real installation disks. I think that's really screwing the customer. (Yeah, I know dealers have excuses for it. I don't want to hear them.)

    Yeah I agree with you on that point, thats why I bought my Vista retial so I can have a real licence and rights for the x64 version.
