So i ordered my G50 from gentech and itll be here tommrow. I had previously bought form bestbuy a Fx 7811 gateway. while the gateway was very nice on graphics and all it would overheat on me within 5 minutes of any game.

im wondering if the G50 with a lower card is going to be extremly different? is the 9700 gt like a terrible card next to the 9800 in the fx?
considering the laptops are bout the same price I really want to just have amazing gaming performance. im kinda worried that I downgraded by going with the g50. everything else about the g50 I love though. Looks like an amazing machine. Id hate to pay the same price roughly and have an inferior laptop. I mostly play WOW and will be playing Warhammer online and the new WOW expansion. not many newer games then that. I want this PC to last a long time though and not start slacking cause of an inferior card.

any input on the graphics card woes i have would be great guys. thanks

im assuming u get the 9700M GT vs the 9800M GTS on the fx... the biggest diff is that the 9700 uses only 128 bus vs the 256 bus on the 9800... that will be seen on performance.

The G50 has a mid-range GPU (9700M GT), which is inferior to the P-7811 Fx's GPU (9800M GTS).

I think the OP knows it is an inferior GPU, I think he is just asking how inferior it is compared to the 9800M GTS.

yeah I am. I mean the laptops are both bout the same price and i just wondered how much of a loss am I taking by using a g50 over the 7811.

I'm in the exact same boat as you (except it's between a sager model, the Asus is better in almost everything except for the GPU). I would just go with the Asus because I doubt it would make that much of a difference considering you only want to do some light gaming. IMO I think the Asus is overall better, except for the GPU.

The difference would be most noticeable in newer, GPU intensive games, I don't know how much power WOW or Warhammer Online require.

Getting the more powerful one would allow for more options in the future, when it comes to games.
