Hey, asus forum.
Let me start off by saying I've never had good luck with LCD screens. My very first lcd screen (rosewill) had a dead pixel. My second (benQ) had 2. my third was good, but my first 2 lcd TVs (hyundai) had multiple dead and stuck pixels. My first laptop (hp) came with none but developed one, so I sold it (wanting to upgrade anyway).
In other words, I've had more screens with defects than I have without, and I'm getting a little tired of it.
Fast forward to now, with my new(ish) g50vt X6 (15.4 WSXGA+) that I ordered from newegg in feburary.
Unfortunately, it came with a pixel that isn't quite dead, or quite bright. It defied categorization and I decided to live with it, because it wasn't all that bad, and Asus probably wouldn't have replaced it for that anyway, even with the Zero Bright Dot policy.
So I'm sitting here now, with a new dead spot on my screen- a tiny bug that just passed away about 30 minutes ago after wandering around aimlessly inside my lcd panel- leaving his dead carcass to the right of my screen. Yeah, just my luck, right?
So now I'm venting and weighing my options around those who know more than I do about warranties, DIY repairs, and reputable screen resellers.
Let me get one thing straight- I love this screen. It's bright, the colors are great, the resolution is crisp. It's the best laptop screen I've had the pleasure of using. If I was to buy a replacement screen from, say, screencountry.com (replacement for $149.99) or screentekinc.com (replacement for $310), would I get the same make and model as this? Everest says I have a 'Samsung LTN154P4-L01' panel, and those sites don't have details on the screen manufacturers.
I'm somewhat confident in my skill to replace the lcd screen myself, as long as I'm getting one as good or better than the one in here already. Of course, this will void any warranty I have with Asus.
So my other course of action would be to contact Asus directly and see if this issue falls under the one year "Accidental Damage" warranty. I'm almost positive it won't, so I'll probably be stuck paying them a premium to replace the screen for me.
Looks like every option is going to be an expensive one, which is sad, becasue I had just saved up enough to add a second hard drive to the empty HDD bay of this machine.
Any ideas out there? Know of any good lcd screen resellers? Is Asus good with their customer service? Ever had any of these issues yourself?
Sorry about the wordy post. Hope to hear from you guys!

Doesn't hurt to contact Asus and try to be as persuasive as you can. I would say you have more than enough reasons for them to agree with the screen coming under warranty. At least give them a call! Doesn't take long. Here is the notebook hotline: 888 678 3688

Yeah, I think I will at least email them. I'll update with their response once I get it.
I've never had a good experience talking to customer service over the phone with any company, so I'll just write them.
g50vt LCD woes; replacement options. Advice needed!
