hey guys im expecting a refurbished g50vt-x5 from asus within a week, im wondering what the norm temps are and what i can expect...

im coming from a g1s with extremely high temps, like 80c cpu and 100c gpu under load, and 60c cpu and 89c gpu idle. im hoping asus quit the too hot to handle tradition and fixed the poor cooling design and crappy nvidia cards with the g50 series...

I'm also curious because if the model they send me has temps any higher than what it should be im sending it back asap.

that's pretty good, especially without a cooler. im not sure if the x1 has the 9800mgs card though. only thing i wish were a bit lower was the gpu under load, at the mid 80's. still ok though.

the more the merrier, more temps are appreciated, especially for g50vt-x5 users =)

I am running a G50VT-X5 under ambient temp of 18-20c, and at idle I normally see CPU at 30c and GPU at 40-45c,at load (3d mark06) CPU is up to 50s and GPU to 76. There is no cooler.

that's really good, im hoping to get those temps with my model...after being a g1s owner and having terrible experiences, i have a fear of laptop heat =p

You won't be disappointed with G50vt-X5. So far I only see good feedbacks of this refurbished model. And forgot to include in my last post that all the results were taken when both CPU and GPU were overclocked at CPU 2.7 Gh / GPU: 575/1500/850.

They both have the same 9800M GS. Those sound like exceptionally good temps, I am jealous. I once left the laptop (Power settings are set to not allow the laptop go to sleep or hibernate, even on battery, now longer how long its been sitting there or whether or not the lid is closed) with the lid shut on the couch with the vent facing the backside so there was absolutely no airflow! Everest was open and reported a temp of 103 on the GPU!!! That was freakishly high, I felt, but these babies are tough.
