ok i figured i give win7 a try and after it got done installing it started up and said c:recovery.dat and a big red ERROR.... win7 doesint load or win vista which was my main os with stuff i needed

i herd the asus recovery is causing this how would i beable to get my win vista to boot?

i also booting duel drives in my g50vt one was the main hdd with windows vista on it and i installed win7 on the 2nd hdd so it wont mess up my vista install but it did it anyways...

i tried to take the 2nd hdd out but that red error still comes up.

I had this prob too. I solved it by formatting my recovery partition.

i joined for this issue exactly, i installed 7 on a g50v and it ran fine but after some patching it would load that massive error screen, i reinstalled did the same patching thing and again error now im reinstalling again and figured google the problem and feel like an idiot coz all i have to do is format the recovery, i havent done it yet but if it works then i shall confirm.

ok guess i have to do that tho i wouldve like the recovery installed incase i dont have the cds but usely i keep my cds in a good place so i could find them so shouldn't be a problem.

right now i have win7 up and running and i pop in my vista hdd and it let me take files off of it which i wanted. thought that red error would've came back up sense i hooked the hdd back up lol

So this only happens when you use the original boot drive?

My install worked great but I installed the second hard drive in the additional drive bay and went into the BIOS to make that the boot drive.

The only stuff that did not work after the initial install are the quick keys for volume, brightness, etc...

    Cheers,

I don't see why it would cause an issue. I have a G71GX and I left my recovery partition when I installed 7 without a problem. What version of windows 7 are you trying to install?

hmm i dont get why it did i either sense i didint insall it on the hdd with the recovery is at.

it seems like it made the recovery the main boot partition after it intall win7

so far everything working good on win7 got everything setup and stuff and runs smoothly :)
