Hello guys.. when i got the laptop with the asus bloatwware i was 100% sure i did some lightscribe.. but now on win7 i tried it again (installed lightscribe driver from here: http://www.lightscribe.com/downloadsection/Windows/index.aspx?id=810 and CDburnerXP) but in the lightscribe control panel i get the message "no lightscribe compatible driver found".

Whats wrong? I´m sure i did some lightscribe already.

    Thanks

Maybe there is a firmware update for your drive to make it show in win7 as compatable. Nero was just my 2 cents. :p

Not the driver, the firmware. It is like the bios for the computer but it resides in the drive itself. The manufactuer usually stores this on their site. I am streching here because I use to update firmware in my desktop drives to get more functionallity.

i am about 80% sure g50vt did not come with a lightscribe drive. it definitely came with lightscribe software but the actual drive did not support it

Same as with the G51, I was a bit confused when I tried burning lightscribe on my G51. If it does not have the LightScribe symbol/name on the drive door, then it doesn't support it.

guys i did already some lightscribe in my laptop.

i had to put the dvd into the dvd-drive the wrong way (so the upper side was on the lower side) and then i entered some name like "my disc" and it wrote/scratched it on the dvd.

so i´m 100% sure my drive supports lightscribe.. or am i wrong and that was smth else than lightscribe?

hmm coudltn find a firmwire update for my dvd drive on the asus page :(

i dont want any extra software for lightscribe.. and als it wont work.. i installed thr original lightscribe driver from lightscribe.com (see first post) and it tells me that it hasnt found any lightscribe compatible driver.

The software i use for lightscribe is the same one i use for burning.

So i dont rly need a advice for a lightscribe software :p i need a fix for my driver issue :)

I'd check what drive you've got in there, usually it's a sony and check that it's a lightscribe supported drive, my M70 gave me the impression it was a lightscribe drive, I got the same issues as you, when I checked the actual drive, it didn't support it.

I think Asus install the lightscribe software on every computer whether the drive in a lightscribe enabled one or not.
I think this is a missleading practice by Asus as I for one got caught when checking out a laptop in astore I saw the software and assumed if the software was there the drive would be enabled only to to find out it wasn't after purchasing it.
It's really a form of false advertising.

I can confirm that the G50vt-X1 has a Lightscribe capable drive, though I've never used it, don't have the software for it, and don't care to (learn how to) use it.

ye but how could i lightscribe some dvd already?

i bought my laptop, started this asus burning bloatware and heard "lightscribe" for the first time.. as i wanted to know what it is i started the lightscribe wizard. it told me to put the dvd into my dvd drive but the wrong way (upper side had to be on the down side).. then it wrote the disc name on the dvd.

That was the first and last time i lightscribed.. i didnt knew before what it was and didnt even heard about lightscribe before :p

I´m 100% sure i did some lightscribe with thid dvd drive already... so it must support it? later i´m trying to find this cd/dvd and make a screen for u.. but not sure if i will find it (it was around the 3th-6th of january when i got my laptop i think.. and on the first day i already did this lightscribe).
