So I got my g50vt about 2 months ago from Best Buy, and except for it being bigger than expected, I am thoroughly enjoying my laptop. But it seems like it is slowly dying on me, and I'm not sure why.
Couple things that have been happening more and more lately:
1) Dvd drive making loud noises on startup. I know that's mostly normal, but it didn't do it the first week or so out of the box, and has been happening more and more ever since.
2) Taking a LONG time to load Vista within the past 2 weeks. I'm talking a good 20-30 seconds after the loading bar until the little jingle plays and the account screen comes up. Not only that, but it occassionally doesn't even make it to the loading bar, and instead has a flashing text input at the top corner(think dos). The longest I have let this persist was about 2-3 minutes before getting annoyed and manually restarting.
3) Issues syncing between audio and video, especially in flash video(ie youtube). I had this issue with my old pc, so not really sure what the deal is.
Those are the main issues that come to mind at the moment. For some further info, I AM using a flashed gpu and dox 185.85 drivers. All other drivers are up to date as well, and not using vista sp3. Not sure if it's an OS issue, or maybe a bad hdd?

Check and see what's running in the task manager, and maybe its just OS clutter? Because it should probably be better if you reinstall vista, since it would be clean.

1. Go into your BIOS and delete your optical drive from the boot sequence. This will help eliminate your system accessing your optical drive during boot. (note: if in the future you wish to perform a clean install with your restore disk, you will need to put your optical drive back on the boot sequence)
2. Uninstall any programs that are not necessary. Run an antivirus/antispyware software to make sure it's not a virus/spyware slowing down your system. Also defragging your hard drive may help too. Disabling index searching should help with your speed issue too.
3. Are you talking about the videos that you upload on youtube? or just viewing youtube videos in general? -

And one thing to do: uninstall Direct Console. It seems to often cause my loading bar runs 20-30 times (normally 15). After uninstalling it, and installing LCD Hype, my loading bar now runs 10 times.

I've disabled/uninstalled most programs I don't use, and there's no issues with spyware/viruses. I'll try defragging and index searching next. I also disabled direct console from msconfig and that seems to have helped a ton. The delay between the loading bar and the login screen is down to 5 seconds from 20-30.
Nothing I've done yet seems to have had an impact on the failure to boot I described. About every other time after the RoG post logo it does nothing and has the text input flashing in the upper left corner. On a successful boot, this input shows for a second or two, then shifts down 2 lines, then windows starts loading. Maybe it's a HDD error?
As for youtube videos, it's when I view any video pretty much. There's usually a lag between video/audio, generally if I skip around. Sometimes it seems to lag up as well, as in audio keeps going but the video glitches for a second.
Thanks for the help so far! -

Glad to hear that my suggestion help you, although a little.
Maybe you should update you BIOS and go to it again and check the optical drive.
You also may download the Vista Recovery CD and give it a try (I mean let Vista repair itself).
For the lag in video watching, you should try to reinstall you video, audio driver (high priority to stock/ nVIDIA drivers). And also check your power plan to make sure you're at High Performance/ Entertainment.
Give me feedback.
