I recently bought the g51 and I'm loving it!

However, one thing that is incredibly annoying is the 2-hand volume change. Couldn't Asus make it F1 and F2 instead of F11 and F12?

Anyway straight to the point - Is there anyway to change the volume one-handed via keyboard? Any mods or anything?

Hey, I've had the same problem. Here is what I did: the touchpad on this laptop has 4 corner areas that can be assigned to different things. I assigned the top-right corner to be volume up, and bottom-right corner to be volume down. Now all I have to do is tap the touchpad on the right side where the scroll line is.

Also, if you wonder, it doesn't interfere with scrolling at all. If you start moving your finger across, the gesture recognized as scrolling, but to use the corner areas you have to tap.

Go to control panel -> mouse, then to the synaptic control panel and assign different actions to corners. I have left (top/bottom) corners disabled.

Worked great! I was wondering the same thing.

I also like how the taps change the volume in smaller increments than the f-keys.

Yeah, I forgot to mention that as well. Fn+Fkeys does a rather big jump in volume as compared to the touchpad volume tap. I'm glad it worked for you!
