Hello, I have had no problems so far with my g51jx-x2, but when i first examined my laptop I noticed a sticker at the bottom of the laptop that says "The lamp in this display contains mercury". Now my question is since this is a LED back-lite lcd and is supposedly Mercury free, why is that sticker present, is it a mandatory sticker that they apply just in case, but this would seem illogical since this whole series of laptops are all LED back-lite.

    -Thanks in advance

p.s. am gonna rep the best answer, :)

Asus has been sticking the mercury warning label on all laptops even on other models that uses LED screens for a few years now. The reason they do this is because some Asus laptops uses florescent LCDs which contains mercury and it is cheaper to just put the label on all laptops rather than to pick and choose which laptops get the label and which ones don't in the assembly line. The same story goes with the TV tuner port on some of the G50/51 series. In the US, there is a dummy TV tuner port which is essentially useless since it doesn't connect to anything inside the laptop. However, in other countries that sell the G50 series, they actually have a working TV tuner. It's often cheaper and less labor intensive to make just one laptop chassis rather than making half of the chassis with the port and half without.
