so basicly i bought a laptop the g60vx from bestbuy..
i didnt like that it only had a p7450 (2.13 ghz)
so i upgraded to a t9900 (3.06 ghz)
and it was rockin' and i really saw a difference off the bat.
now it wasn't until recently when i started having this problem.
i try and load up games and the notebook freezes, i played around with power4gear stuff and its still freezing up.
im thinking i might need to flash my bios so my laptop can pickup the processor
-
when i look under the laptop settings and all that..
it does say i have t9900 3.06ghz processor..
so it definately knows what processor it has installed. -
Are you OCing any? And how are temps?
-
well other than the power4hybrid stuff.. nope..
i dont even need to overclock..
and the temps where could i find that.. -
hmm.. ok
so i spent more time troubleshooting.. and seeing what kinda programs cause my laptop to freeze..
and its only when i open up something with STEAM.. im going to reinstall and see if that fixes it.. -
ok... i can safely confirm that steam is doing something to my g60 that is causing it to freeze.. which is weird because i never did that before..
i tried reinstalling and i get the same problem everytime steam runs -
try removing the Creative software that came with your system (its been known to cause issues with steam)
-
do u think that could be the problem ultimately.. because i had the software installed before and i was running steam for hours with no problems.. why is it messing up now?
-
I got exactly the same problem than you have. Did you find a way to solve it ? Steam support didn't solve my problem. Help !
My laptop is a G51VX asus and freezes on steam startup everytime.
Thx -
Those are, at least, known to cause freezing issues with steam and some Anti virus programs. Since steam is configured to run on startup most of the time, it is like a time bomb.
And these freezing issues start randomly. Most users of the G51J found the problem almost instantly within days. It took me 3 months to see it.
