my screen keeps blipping, i dont know if thats a good explanation for what its doing. but it kinda flashes, and resets the image. its doing it more and more frequently, and when it does i can see a lot of lines. i hope my gpu isnt dying...
the only thing i can think of changing before this happened is disabling turbo gear so my ram timings went back to their max.....
some help would be appreciated. any ideas?

i doubt i'll be able to take it back and exchange it for the g72 because ive had it for over 3 months, and they would probably want proof that something was wrong, even tho it happens every day, it only happens in brief spurts of about 5 minutes. also, i like the look of my g71 over the g72 any day.

Either way take it back to bestbuy and have it looked at. Not sure what could be wrong with it.

Count me on the list that prefers the looks of the g71.

It can't hurt to reinstall your graphics driver and see if it helps, but it does sound like it could very well be a defect that you'll need to have looked at by Best Buy.

I also prefer the look of the G71 to that of the G72. The G71 looks like a Gamers laptop.
If I was you I would go to Bestbuy and show them your recipt that entitles you to a 40.00 Windows 7 Upgrade. I would have them(Geek Squad) wipe the HDD and do a clean install. If that doesn't fix the problem, just have the screen replaced for a better one with a higher res. -
I'm getting that problem too

edit: also scratch that, it happend like 6 times while i was just playing warhammer -
I duno i havent had it for a day or 2 now. I'll keep u posted lol. I just want to add a tip that i found amazing. The monitor is hard to open and close for me. so I pushed back the monitor clips from the keyboard side with the monitor open. then I foloded the monitor closed. and used a knife to pull out those black tabs wear the screen pivots. I put WD40 on 2 screws it uses for the monitor to go up and down. now opening the screen is smooth as eggs!
