I just noticed something since ive been taking my laptop to the labs lately to class and to work, but when i unplug my laptop at the end of class, and turn it off, it has 100% battery life. I didnt use it until about 30 hrs later back in class again, but when i started it up, the battery life was rated at 74%. is it possible this dumb*** express gate light is slowly draining my battery?

30 hours is a long time. Chemical batteries have natural drain.

Yea, losing that much in 2 hours is not right. That's odd. Maybe your battery calibration is off? Try doing a full discharge sometime and recharging it to full and see if it helps reset the calibration.

I would recommend you going into the bios with your battery at 100% charged and run the battery recalibration test, this will allow your computer to recongize the proper levels of the battery when needed.

When I had my G71Gx-A1, it did the same thing. The battery would drain significantly over small periods of time when turned off. My G72Gx-A1 doesn't seem to have this problem, though.

ok guys, took an extra day to do it, but I did, and it seems like it worked. Battery calibration test, charged it up full after that without turning it on. then today i unplugged it for about 2 and a half hours before starting it up, and it booted on battery power with 100% power, and then plugged it in and it stayed at 100%, thanks guys.

Spoke too soon. I had my laptop unplugged for about three hours and it was down to 92% from fully charged.

yea, sounds like the same thing that was happening to me, try the battery calibration test, just make sure u have the time available to run it (almost 2 hours) and then fully charge it off. as of my first day after that, it solved my issue, and hopefully it doesnt come back.
