So, BB cancelled my order for the rbxx09, apparently they are out, and not getting any more.
Does anyone know if they will be getting a replacement/upgraded version from ASUS, or if it's just done and nothing new will be coming out.
If that is the case, I will just pick up the rbxx05, but wanted to make sure before I did anything hastey.

That really sucks. I guess mine is canceled, as well. I went with this model because of the awesome specs, and using Best Buy and their card, I could pay off the bill in monthly increments without any interest. I have no idea what I'm going to do for a laptop now. Everything else is out of my budget.

Get the rbxx05, it's the same model just dual core instead of quad.

Wow, this seems like deja-vu all over again, the G71GX-RX05 had the same problem when it was nearly on it's last leg. This means the laptop most likely only has about 1-3 months left to live. You can do like I did and call other Best Buys and try to find one and then have one held for you. I had to literally drive 30 minutes out of the city I lived at in order to get my G71GX...

They have a bunch of them at the Aventura, Florida Best Buy. I could grab one for you guys as long as you pay me commission. :D

Edit: nm i think those are the RX05 they have at the BB here. Oh my dreams of a fat commission are gone..cry.

i have literally yet to hear of anyone actually acquiring the quad core versions of either the g72gx or the g71gx, leading me to believe since they started on backorder, never came off backorder, and were disiued while on backorder, they never existed, at least until i'm proven wrong.

Kinda like bigfoot or UFO's. Some have claimed to have seen them but there's no real proof yet. The truth is out there!

I saw one in Best Buy the Quadcore with when it first dropped and never realized how rare it actually was.

I don't get why they still advertise this model on their site if they're not getting more. They don't give enough information on their items, either. They could mention that they won't be getting any more, but all it says is sold out, and on my order status it still says backordered, nothing else.

^^ Best Buy does that a lot i notice. It was the same thing with the G50/G71.

That even includes the Gateway FX series.

Yeah, my opinion of them has definitely dropped. Now I think I'll probably end up buying the MSI 1651-ID2 from Xoticpc (I can customize it with the Q9000, 320 gb 7200 rpm, 9 cell battery, 4 gb ram, win7 64 bit, and it only ends up around $1370). The GTS 160m isn't as powerful as the GTX 260m, but from benchmarks I've seen, it's only a little bit better (only like a 2 fps difference in games).

oh noes! I was going to get an rbbx09 soon. I was hoping to wait until the end of their shelf-life and grab one for 999 like the G50Vt series. Hopefully someone someone is willing to trade with me if I top up enough.

psy- if you read the other posts, you'd learn that bestbuy does this by habit when they aren't going to carry a laptop anymore

Plus, it's been well over 3 weeks since they were set at 'sold out' status.

Might be good news; it's no longer listed as "sold out" status or "shipping unavailable", and it can be added to carts. My order is still backordered, though. Ship, dammit! SHIP! Lol, I'm going to give it a day or so more before giving up and canceling my order. How is everyone liking their rbbx09?

I've had one backordered since the 4th of November and this morning I got an e-mail saying it shipped. Although that's great and all, I was kind of hoping it would never ship because the primary reason I'm getting a gaming laptop is to prepare for Star Trek Online, and since that's not out until February I was kind of hoping to see if something else came out between now and then that would be worth waiting for.

Oh well, guess I have a week before it arrives to decide if I want to open it or not.

Well, this laptop has amazing specs, especially for the price (just remember to "overclock" the GPU up to the stock settings). I also like the design a lot more than any previous Asus gaming laptops. Not a plethora of annoying flashy lights or terrible paint jobs. I'd definitely open it. :D
