I got my v6va in the mail yesterday and I am in love with this thing!!! It's actually much much smaller than I expected from a 15"-I will have little to no problem bringing this thing to class sometimes. Also, the construction is amazing! I actually went to Best Buy last night and I looked at the Sony FE (the other comp I was considering for awhile) and I was shocked at the poor build quality compared to my Asus. There is NO screen flex and no keyboard flex. The x700 is awesome, I already loaded up Civ IV, which wouldn't even start on my Dell, and it is at the highest graphics possible and running quite smoothly.
I did have to go out an buy a cooling pad, however. This baby gets quite hot when playing games, and even pretty warm when doing pretty simple things.
As long as this never affects the internal components, it doesn't bother me, especially with the cooling pad.
Oh, and the screen is great! Everything is more clearly defined and crisp. I love it!
Thanks for listening to my ranting, and thank you for helping me choose this awesome computer!

Carrie I hate you and all other V6Va owners
...
..
j/k... but still, stop making me jealous!
Congrats on the purchase -
l can imagine how happy you are, l got my laptop yesterday
For the specs in sig l paid $1,280 before taxes. -
I find it cooler then the Z70va when gaming, even though the V6 only has one vent a lack of vents. Which is awesome of course

Did the V6VA come w/ the IPS screen?
I'm wondering if the V6J runs cooler with a different monitor.
I'm having trouble finding reviews for the V6J - I know it's new but come on. I may HAVE to be one of the firsts. -
The V6Va comes with IPS screen and ATI X700. Actually, that's the main reason I got it. The V6J comes with glossy screen (no IPS) and Nvidia 7400.

The screen isn't going to make it run cooler.......
Carrie most likely didn't figure out powergear yet and is probably guarenteed to be running in high or super performance mode... especially probably plugged in.
Drop that down to email mode and use it on battery..... the system is a lot cooler. You have to consider how the system is being used and need to know how to place with the settings. -
another option is to get rid of power4gear and use something like RMClock or NHC to control the CPU clock and voltage. You may want to give that a try, as it also extends battery life by a little bit.

Absolutely use Notebook Hardware Control. I dropped my temps by at least 5 C
And I agree with AuroraS - I wish I had one!!! I love the Z63A, but the V6 is SO sleek! -
Congrats on the purchase~!
Yes, as Justin has stated, everyone with a laptop should use NHC or some kind of power management program to make things run cooler and longer.
Man I'm kinda jealous too even though my Z70Va is dead sexy.
Cheers,

I know this sounds like a dumb question, but how do I use he NHC? I don't want to mess up my computer, so I am assuming it is safe to use?
Also, I am happy to report that I have NO dead pixels. Woohoo! -
There are numerous threads about NHC on the forum and if you go to the NHC author's site he has instructions on there, and also when you download the program and install it there is a HELP function.
-
I knew the question was dumb....
-
I'm jealous. I don't get to spend time with my new V6Va till a week from now... it's sitting at home and there are only pictures of it that I can look at for now ='( How does NHC compare to RMClock?
-
NHC is awsome its all you need.
got my v6va....
