    Hi,

I'm just wondering if you can upgrade the GTS 360M in the G51JX-A1 to the new ATI 5870?

I can buy the G73JH model but i don't really like the chassis design. Is this possible?

    Maybe.
The both use MXM 3.0 type B slots so it would match up.
The only problem you might see is physical.
    Would the heatsink fit?
Would you have to swap out the back plate?
Most importantly will the BIOS reconize it?
Do the screw holes in each GPU match up for instalation?
I can't answer those because I really don't know how similar they are in those ways, but I would say YES it would work if all those issues are worked out.
    Hope that helps a bit.

Not likely, the cooling is already insufficient for GTX260M their previous card and they downclocked it, that's why they changed to the less powerful GTS 360M, a 5870MR in G51 would burn.

An Asus proprietary GDDR5 5850 would be nice, though.

Of course, the BIOS would probably have a fit, but hey, I can wish.

Yeah that's another thing the 360M GTS has a TDP of 38W, the 5870 50W, so that would be a problem.
