Is there anyway to manually change the maximum charge of a battery back to the default?
I have v6j and I only had it for about a month and the wear on it already incresed to 25%
i neverreally noticed it until i realized that i have 1 hour less of battery life than i usually do
I ran the calibration a couple of times but it seems as though it's making the batteries worse
i don't think they can't work at full capacity because they are so new and i think asus' battery calibration thing in the bios doesn't work very well

If the battery is dying, its the chemicals inside that are wearing out, you can't hack it or anything, since its a chemical compound, and not a software/hardware item.
If its really bad, best to call ASUS to get a replacement. -
do they cover this as under the standard 1 year global warranty?
-
batterys have a 1 year warranty. They will replace it if it doesnt hold a charge after such a short time.

looks like a LOT of ASUS owners are having this problem right now,.... I wonder who makes the batteries for ASUS and if they have changed supplier recently
anyone know what batteries they use?
in batterymon its called a Asus A6-P2-E

As far as i know monitoring whr is like monitoring the gas mileage on a aging behicle. It will reduce over the course of the year. Not sure if this is under warranty. Personally there are 2 things we look for
1. The battery charge light goes off
2. It gets the "advertised" discharge time. In other words if you are posed to get 4 hours max and you get 3.9 hours I would say its not a warranty issue. -
So if I am getting 2 hours of less I should contact ASUS, because that is the case for me right now. I used to be able to get 4 hours no problem, but now I can barely be unplugged for more than 105 minutes (1 hour 45 minutes).

I would say yes. Try the calibration util in bios. If no change i would say you can get a replacement

recalibration util in the bios made my battery worse by 5% every time i just didn't notice until i only got 2 hr battery life and i am using battery monitor thingy
Now if there was a software that could reset the "smart battery eeprom" then there would be no problem because i seriously doubt that the battery physically lost its charge. I searched and found a program that does it but... it requires buiding a little circuit board to connect the battery's eeprom to and that would require taking apart the battery so i don't think that would be useful. It might be possible because the bios util sets the maximum charge on the battery so it could be possible to make.

First you should remove all battery utils. Trust windows meter only. With that said. If you lower the brightness below 25% and the laptop is idle you should see windows battery meter say you have about 4hr remaining. If this is not the case keep running the calibration util. if after multiple attempts the battery only gets worse you should rma it. You can reach asus directly. We do not warranty ensemble models unfortunately but you can plead for advanced replacment with them
-
i suppose i'll just RMA it then.
On my hp laptop there is a Windows utility that actually recabilibrates the battery i ran it and it went from 40% wear to 28% it went somewhere from 33000 mah to 44000 mah or so i just wish asus had utility like that -
Playing in hot rooms a lot? If the battery goes over a certain temperature, the battery looses part of it's capacity. Irreversably.

not really my room hovers around 35 most of the time and the battery is put in the coolest part of the laptop and i also raise it up an inch so that air can circulate
hack battery to set maximum charge to default whr
