    hard drive swap? windows 8 UX31E to a UX31A?

    should this work ? The hardware is very similar. I want to do this to avoid having to reload all my setting ect.. Plus I dont want to loose windows 8 that I just paid for last week. I changed laptops cuz I needed the backlit keys.

    it worked. I just had to reactivate by phone. Win 8 is not about to be fooled... haha

    Let us know if MS will do it. Since you have valid product keys hard coded in the UEFI firmware, you may be directed to just reinstall Windows 8.

    Very nice of Microsoft to do for you. They could of been very nasty but nice to hear not so.

    I am assuming you have OEM version? But I have seen over the years they really are kind of generous on this kind of stuff. Much nicer than the EULA reads.

    it was all automated. I wonder if they give you a certain amount of times you can do this.
