I wonder if anyone has taken apart a x83v. I have all the obvious screws taken out, lid is off when i try to pry the palmrest up it feels like there might be another screw. Does the keyboard come off the palmrest first? the reason I am taken it apart, I need to inspect the damage. does anyone know if the power circuit is seperate. My wife said it started stinking(burnt electric smell) computer works under battery power but does not charge

figured out how to take the keyboard off. it just prys off, damn near have to break it. found the back post of the pwr jack was burnt, when plugged into ac power that post is very hot. I dont know whether the jack is faulty, or the circuit board. i cant find my multimeter to test the output of the pwr brick

If you're in North America, check the Asus eStore.

Else, you're unlikely to find a MB replacement as Asus doesn't put these in the distribution chain.
