I have been looking for a while now and thought I narrowed my choice down to a Sager 3880. I was waiting for the "ok" from my dad as it's a gift but during the wait the Asus Z70va actually came out. I really like the port placement on the 3880 (most everything on the left and the vent blowing out the back) vs. the ports in the Asus (stuff on the back, which is ok I guess but the vent blowing on the right on your hand). The Sager has a go 660 and the Asus has the X700 which is slightly better. After specing them out with the same specs that I want, the Sager is $1610 and the Asus is $1730 (before taxes, shipping, etc.) Is it really worth it to spend another 120 for the Asus? basically what you get for the 120 is an x700 and bluetooth. I can add bluetooth to the Sager for $60 but am uncertain if I need it (I don't as of right now). So I guess after this long post what I'm asking for is a little help deciding. I know Asus supposedly has better 'build quality' and all that and it is lighter. Battery life will be better on the Sager but not by much I think. Ok Asus fans, convince me :)

Will you be moving around a lot? If so, the lighter Z70Va will be much better...(when moving around a lot, every ounce of weight matters!)
And you say it's a gift... ;) ...that means money is not an object, right? So why not go for the Z70Va? Technically, you ARE paying more... but you're also getting more.

However, if you're really THAT indecisive, I'd flip a coin.

Sagers are big, fat, ugly machines. As for the Z70VA, it's got the best screen in the world (exagerating just a tiny bit), 4 speakers, carbon fiber casing, awesome gpu, bluetooth, and it's all in one sleek package.
As for the vent on the right hand, it doesn't really blow on your hand. If it does, bring your hand down an inch- so called "problem" solved.

No contest... go with the Asus. I've owned Sager (5680, 3790) and Asus (Z70v, Z70va) notebooks and can say that both brands offer high quality machines. The Sager 3880 is the successor to the 3790, which I thought was superior to the Asus M6N series because it offered a WSXGA+ screen. Asus caught and passed Sager with the Z70va.

The Z70va beats the 3880 in features, weight, battery life, and appearance. I'll bet the Z70va out-performs the 3880, as well, although the difference probably is not huge. Another negative for the 3880 is the god-awful battery size/location. That big hump in the back of the 3880 is just hideous.

There's only one choice... :asus: Z70va!!!

The M6BNe in countries outside the US had a WSXGA+ screen...

Yeah, you guys were lucky. I never understood why Asus refused to sell the M6 models with WSXGA+ here in the U.S. Back in February, I came very close to buying an M6 from Australia just so I could have a WSXGA+ screen. Glad I didn't pull the trigger on that deal, 'cuz it would've cost $400 more than my new Z70va!! :p

    thank you for the replies.
Basically I'm not worried about the weight, and I realize that these machines will perform just about equal (although I'll have to get a slightly slower cpu in the z70va to stay in my dad's price range) .
A note about the screen and battery: I actually have convinced myself that the big 12 cell on the sager that props up the back of the laptop is good for typing and for air circulation while on a desk, also I was going to get the lower res screen on the sager due to the fact I play games and I'm very afraid of non-native resolutions...
Question: On most laptops, do games that you set to a non-native res stretch to fit the screen or I have heard that some cut the image/only use part of the lcd (which is fine with me)

So all things being roughly equal, if you just had to choose based on quality, reliability, warranty issues/dealing with getting repairs...which would you choose?
Oh and if you want to comment/answer my other questions I would greatly appreciate it :)

The games usually stretch to fit. Nothing should be cut out. But most (almost all) newer games have support for widescreen, which IMO enhances the gameplay. Playing games like Doom3, HL2, and Need for Speed Underground2 is spectacular on the Z70 widescreen. I just don't see myself playing these types of games on a normal ratio monitor anymore.
