ive been having issues with the video driver on my z63a for several months now. i tried updating the drivers, and i tried rolling back the drivers.

occasionally, with not specific stimuli, the driver will crash. sometimes the system will lock up, then revert to 16 color mode and inform me of a crash.

sometimes the screen will get localized pixelation, ie, only the video player window will mess up, then it spreads. sometimes when scrolling through a text document, all the text will pyramid over towards the right hand side of the window and the left side will turn to gibberish. if i dont reboot quickly, it will revert to 16 color mode

after reboot, i always get the "serious error" message

next time it happens, ill try to get a screen shot. any ideas in the meantime?

    edit: here are some screenshots!

Sounds to me like a hardware problem. Your vents blocked up, fan failure, heatsink not seated properly, or just a windows frack up.

    I don't think it's a software issue.

Have your reseller look at it for you.

Also try this to make SURE it's not a software problem before going to them. Do NOT install any drivers at all for your intel graphics. Uninstall and make sure windows doesn't automatically install drivers for you and run it like that for a while. If the problem persists then it's not a driver problem.

    Cheers,
    Mike

i bought it from proportable. i cant very well be without it for a couple of weeks. and im certainly not going to take it in somewhere and pay a pimply dork to blow air into it and charge me $150 to tell me that he couldnt find anything.

its only 5 months old (and has been doing it for a while), so if its hardware, it must be something assembled wrong, or dust in a connection. not to impune on proportable

That is most definitely a video card problem. Its very posible that memory can cause the same but unlikely. The most likely of the two is a replacement motherboard.

Eddy is correct on this one.

If you can't be without your laptop for a couple of weeks contact Justin from ProPortable and set something up. He's very good with special attention to forum members.
