Hi,
Today I decided to run 3Dmark05 on my laptop.
The tests were ok until I looked at the temperature of my CPU which went as high as 80 C.
Im just curious how long would it be best to play a game for if my cpu gets this hot. Is the Pentium M built differently to withstand this?
-
Yes, the Pentium-M is able to withstand temperatures of up to 100 degrees celsius - a temperature at which the CPU will never reach...because if it gets close to that, the CPU will either clock itself down (to cool down) or shut your computer off for safety reasons.
-
Use centrino hardware control to unvolt will lower your temp by 10 degrees. the Pentium m can handle like 90C easily. but dont worry if it gets to hot the PC will shut down its built into the hardware.
****it you beat my responce i was in the process of writing it while you must have hit submit. -
Ok that is a sign of relief, as my friend kept telling me that 55 C was pretty hot for his athlon.
Oh yes I have undervolted my CPU but only for the 6x setting. -
Undervolt for the top speed setting. but yeah desktop CPU and pentium M are totaly different when it comes to heat. if you pc isnt locking up while playin games then dont worry.

Im typing as fast as i can. I kinda gotta gimp hand at the moment sliced half way through my finger the other day. so bare with me. :

Hi Alweky,
Check my signature for Pentium M undervolting.
Cheers, -
80 seems a bit high even for a normally volted Pentium-M.
It should normally run high 60's and touch the 70's at times so maybe your heatsink wasn't positioned properly or something.
Are your vents blocked?
If not then go see your reseller.
It shouldn't be that high.
As for your friend's AMD, these processors run on different voltages and acceptable temperatures are not going to be the same as Intel's.
Cheers,
Mike -
HE was running a very stressful program. so i think 80 isnt unheard of. was it on a desk or on a bed or something.
-
Thanks ikovac, nice article and i have undervolted my 13x to 1.2ish from 1.36.
Well normally when I play Source my temperature is around high 60s - mid 70s, so guess 3dmark05 is different. -
Great. Thanks. I'm glad it helped.
Cheers,
heat issues?
