    Hi All,

My computer doesn't seem to want to go into standby - the system never shuts down so far to allow the power light to start blinking, although the screen turns off and the computer stops responding. Recovery is impossible. Hibernation also does not work. This is after a fresh reformat and an installation of Asus's ACPI drivers, and everything else. Can anyone suggest how to fix this problem?

    Thank you,
    Sandeep

Hmm... to me, the "everything else" sounds like it could be a problem. Sometimes software conflicts will prevent the computer from going into Standby or Hibernation properly...

Have you tried standby when the computer ONLY had Windows and the ACPI drivers?

    Hi AuroraS,

No, I didn't try standby at that point in time... the more I research though, the more I suspect it could be the omega ATI drivers. "Everything else" just refers to the basics... sound card drives, omega ATI drivers, f-prot antivirus, tiny firewall, centrino hardware control, intel drivers, etc.

Hmm, now that you mention it, I think I faintly remember reading about problems regarding the Omega drivers as well...
Try the ASUS drivers for a change... and if that doesn't work, do what I suggested earlier and try going into standby after only installing windows and all of the necessary ACPI drivers - the essentials

    Hi Sandeep,

I MAY have had a similar problem before: I posted about it here.

I know that's not what you're describing, but I really suspect a video/CHC issue, so maybe try the video driver supplied on your Z70V CD and turn off CHC or other underclocking/volting software?

This might be a useless post to you since my problem magically fixed itself, but for your information, I am currently running the VGA driver 050708 (latest on Asus web site) and using CHC to underclock/volt without problems.
