sorry if this is in the wrong place, but its just im lookin at the n80vns

and im in a dilemma between the gp011c and the A1

with this laptop im lookin to play games, but i also wouldnt mind turning down gphix to make it run. im just trying to stay cheap.

but will there be a big difference in performance between the t5800 and the p8600

or should i just dish out the extra $$$ and pay the difference for the gp011c?

are those the main differences between the A1 and the gp011c? if not please help me out

    thnx in advance

Good question! I "think" the processor is the only difference between those two models.

Have you looked at the ASUS N80VN-B1 available at xoticpc. It's ~$1130 shipped and it has the same processor (P8600) as the gp011c model. Though, I don't know what the differences are between those models.

I'm curious about the gaming performance between the two processors as well.

Depends on the difference of price. Most games aren't CPU limited and you won't notice much difference in getting the better processor.

mm the price difference is like..

    969 for t5800
    1159 for p8600

    so i guess like a $200 diff

    thnx for the help

You can get the N80vn-B1 (identical to the GP011C version AFAIK) for $959 (free shipping) if you use live.com cashback deal. Simple version, go to www dawt live dawt com, search for "asus laptops" and at the top in the sponsored ads section, there will be an ebay link with a 25% off note. Click on that, and then search for the N80vn version of your choice. Got mine through excaliberpc (arriving this week) with the full 2 year Asus warranty including accidental.

Also: Asus X83vm-X1 at Best Buy is essentially an N80vn in a brown color scheme, P8400 (2.26ghz), same vid card and ram and everything, except without a bluetooth, LED screen, and fingerprint scanner.

Personally, not worth $200. Read my previous post for reasoning.
