hey guys this is my first post. I've been looking for a gaming laptop for a few weeks now since my new job requires me to travel and i really would love to game while on trips, but bringing my gaming rig with me would be impossible LOL :D . so im not looking for a laptop to replace my desktop gamer.

the budget i set for myself is 800$

and these are the laptops im looking at

ASUS G Series G51VX-RX05. for 639$ newegg referbished and if i do get this laptop i plan on swapping my p8700 from my current dell into it.

ASUS G Series G72GX-RBBX05. for 754$ newegg refurbished

ASUS G Series G60JX-RBBX05. for 799$ newegg refurbished the only thing i dont like about this model is the fact that it only supports one hdd.

please give any advise on the buy and please remember that my daily gaming will be done on my desktop, but when i do game mobile i would like the best gaming performance possible. i also dont plan on buying another laptop for a while so i would like it to last. i read all the reviews on all three and as far as i can tell all their performances in gaming is fairly close with the obvious price/performance ratio.

    thanks guys

personally , i suggest u get the G51.. u can swap the P8700 for the P7350 which comes with it.. and it shouldn't have as many problems as G72.. the GTX260M is also better than GTS360M in G60...

What problems have you observed in the G72? Mine has had no issues.

    Cheers,

What do you think about the price vs performance ratio panzer? Do you think the i5 g60 would be a better value than the g72?

i5 is better than P8700 but it's debatable how much better. I like the 1600x900 screen on the G72 and how easy it is to access its components. Also, look for threads about the G60 overheating. I've never had a temp problem with my G72 and most people agree the nvidia 260m is better than the 360m.

I paid $800 for my G72 and it was such a good value I couldn't bear to sell it when I bought the G73 (which is definitely more powerful).

For a bit more you can get one of these G73 refurbs.

    ASUS G73JH-RBBX05 17.3 Laptop i7 1.6GHz 6GB 500GB DVDRW - Cowboom Store

When they first hit the store a few months ago they were $813 but those disappeared quickly and they've steadily raised the price. I almost bought one on general principle.

In your price range I'd prefer the G72.

    Cheers,
