    Hello people.
I really need your help on this one. I need to recover the secure disk that i created using the asus software that comes with the fingerprint scanner (it stores credentials, disk drives, etc and can be accesed by the fingerprint scanner, i forgot the name though)... I repartitioned my hard drive and unfortunately, it got screwed up and my laptop would not boot. So i needed to reinstall vista. After doing so, i tried to opening the secure disk (it is still there) and then a pop up tells me that i am not allowed to access the disk (for obvious reasons)..

My question is.. is there a way to recover my files from that secure disk? o can i access it again.. any help would be much appreciated...

I have never used ASUS security software... it is possible that that encrypted drive was linked with an encryption key stored in the Vista registry, in which case your data may be lost.

But I am not at all sure.

I can recommend TrueCrypt for the future. Doesn't work with fancy things like fingerprint readers, but it's very reliable and as long as you know the password, you can mount the encrypted drive on any computer, at any time.

I did not say that, I said they MAY be lost. Since noone here seems to know the answer I suggest you contact ASUS support, they should know how that security program works.
