My relatively new laptop has been hot (or so I think) ever since I got it. (end of May) I'm hoping someone here can offer some suggestions and advice.

    I've got a Built On Asus Z92km (ASUS's NB Probe says it's an A6Km).

The processor is an AMD Turion 64 ML-40. I wanted to max it out and got a good deal on the processor, so that's what I got.

I don't think the ram will matter much, but it's got a gig of OCZ.

Originally when I got it, everything seemed fine. About a month after I had the notebook, it started getting really hot and shutting off after a couple of minutes of the CPU running @ 100% and Asus's NBProbe said the temperature got to ~79c. I see a bunch of posts suggesting SpeedFan, and not much mention of NBProbe, so I don't know who to trust, but I'm thinking that Asus will know more about their hardware. I could be wrong.

Since it was shutting off, I sent it to Asus without (their request) the processor, hd, ram, etc and they pointed out a problem on my processor installation (my first laptop build) where I hadnt stretched the metallic tape across from the CPU's mount to the heatpipe. I remedied that, installed it, booted up, and it shutdown on bootup and never turned on again.

I sent it back (this time with all my parts) to Asus and from what I can decipher of their notes, they replaced the mobo and now it runs consistently, but here's my concerns:

Asus's NBProbe says it's ~78-83c when the CPU runs at a 100%.. which admittedly, is a lot (software/web developer). If it's accurate, am I not correct in thinking that is just way too hot?

SpeedFan contradicts NBProbe, and says it's 61c. That, I think I could live with.

On the other hand though, it doesn't shut off. If it's really getting to ~83 degrees, I'm afraid of tearing up the proc, hence my concern.

Should I be concerned? Is there anything I can do myself? Should I send it back? If it's broke, is there anything I could tell the tech to make sure it's fixed once and for all?

    All help is appreciated.
