    on my month old G1

I've been getting a flashing warning recently from the regular Asus NB probe (the one that just says if things are "normal" or "fatal").... soo yeah, I'm getting a fatal warning afer playin games, and just today using photoshop on battery power for an hour. Is that fatal error really bad to see? or does it mean things are hot.. be careful. NB probe seams flaky to me the way its not very specific about things.

My laptop is always on a hard surface, but since its not winter anymore, ambient temp is a tad warmer.

OK.. also. When I try to run Asus Probe V2.11 (the one thats supposed to look at the actual temp of your CPU) I get an error on startup saying

    "Monitoring dll loading fails"

The program then loads,, but temps and information I'm looking for is listed as -na-.

I've tried uninstalling the probe v2.11 and reinstalling but the same thing happens

I need help. I'm also worried about that "fatal" message icon flashing on my tray after using my laptop for a little while. I seams like its been starting this a few days ago.

Maybe my cpu fan isn't working? I dont know.

:) any help would be great.

ok update... I went and downloaded the program called Speedfan.Basically that monitors the temp by communicating with the Mobo. My average temp is around 55C, desktop surfing. Then shoots up to 60 C or a little higher just painting something in photoshop. Running a virus scan and photoshoping got me up to 70C+

My fan is running on the CPU so it says, so I dont think that is broken.

I just got worried yesterday when I got taht flashing "Fatal" error. Bah!

I'm still not entirely convinced everything is normal, maybe I'm being paranoid.

I rigged up a metal cage thingy that raises my laptop of the desk 1 inch. And I had a room fan pointed near the bottom so a breeze goes under the laptop on the thin cage. that;ll probably help when playing games for long peroids of time.

if anyone has anything to add to my ordeal :p I'd like to hear what you might think.

    haha I'm a laptop nooob.
