Have you tried using Acronis? I've used it a couple times to clone and image my hard drives on my U6V.

Hi ! I just did that today on my M73..

you need to change the IDE drive option in the bios.. change it to "compatible" (not native sata).

then boot, ghost, choose auto for the cd..

it worked well.. and with drive image I could also make a copy of the hidden recovery partition.

    cheers.

oh I forgot about that. Thanks

    Now another problem.

I have a 320gig usb external 2.5 hd. When I hook it up to the laptop, I get lights showing its getting power from the usb port but vista will not see the drive at all. I can plug it into another computer and it will pick up just fine.

I even when into the Drive management and I an not able to see the drive there either.

    Im going crazy.

It may still be getting less power than it needs... you may need to route power from another USB port to the HDD. That can be done with a special cable, perhaps one came with the enclosure.

And BTW, don't forget to put the SATA interface into Enhanced mode before you boot Windows again, or else you'll probably get a BSOD...
