From the demo's I've used, it's a great all-around machine. Right now, my favorite systems are between the W3/V6. The W3 is a little smaller and a widescreen which set it off.
A 14" widescreen may be too small for an everyday machine, as if you consider height of the screen, the height is about that of a 13" regular ratio screen...... It's a solid notebook, with a great design and great performance, much like the larger W1.
Reliability - I'd put it up there with the W1 in the lines of "durability" and really for everyday use... It's only been out a month or so in Europe and the US model is just being produced as I type... but for Asus on a whole, I've still got an old M1 which is 4 years old and it kicks like the day it was taken out of the box. The W3 is much heavier duty than that old notebook. It uses the same brushed aluminum materials as the W1 does and I've got a W1 thats a year old at this point and aside from the keyboard (which I've used a lot and has gotten shinny) the palmrest and lid look brand new... it's the most durable laptop finish I've ever seen.
Heat - It's not bad - mostly to do with centrino as a whole... if you push the thing to it's max for hours on end, it's going to get hot... but hot is maybe twice room temp... which is no where near what most people consider HOT for a laptop. Asus' stuff always runs rather cool.
Noise - I'll let someone else answer this one. A few people in this forum thinks the M5 is very loud, I don't...... But either way, the W3 is on the same level as the M6/W1 as far as noise level... which I think most people would agree is very low. the rpm's of the fan go up and down with load, because that is related to heat... but I'd say it's quite normal in terms of other Asus systems.
Thanks,
Justin

thank's a lot about so detail info. As for me, i am very like this machine.
but some friends recommend Fujistu( S7010 or S7011), because Fujistu is reliable and less heat less noisy. -

Well if you want to wait into the summer, I'll put money on the fact that the W3 is going to be winning a bunch of awards for design, build and performance..... The W1 had a lot of great reviews and tons of happy customers.... the W3 only builds on that tradition.
Thanks,
Justin
