I installed the latest Realtek drivers but I still get near 'dog whistle' volume on it when I play DVD or video clips. Anything else volume seems fine. Is there something I can do to fix this? thanks,

yes I did, still same results... If it was sound card or speaker problem it would not sound loud for 'windows' and other software sounds.
