This is due to the power saving mode when running on battery. Try pressing the power mode button, top of keyboard on far right, and cycle thru to max performance. This will keep the CPU speed up, but will drain battery power!

Otherwise you can edit the power4gear settings, there should be an icon for this in the system tray, which will give you access to all the settings you need !

it seems i have a problem... if the power cord is not plugged in
i do not get to choose super performance... and the rest seems to
have the processor running at 600mhz... is this normal or theres a
glitch... do i need to install intel speedstep?

You may want to check the BIOS to make sure SpeedStep is enabled. The other thing is to go into Power Options in Control Panel and change the setting to Always On, this will force the CPU to run at max speed even though it's running off of battery. It will cut battery life big time, just to let you know.

I just finished setting one up- noticed the 600mhz speed problem- I turned off cpu power saving in bios and it came up running at full 1.6ghz- haven't tried on battary power, yet, but will get back when I've checked out everything and figure it out.
It seemed pretty fast no matter what the system props said.
New bios on ASUS site is 203a.
