Ive tried googling this but can seem to find it as all i get are the press releases saying the x2300 is coming.
Is the x2300 akin to the x1300 but with dx10 compatibility?

I wouldn't expect it to be all that powerful, and it probably will be around the Mobility X1300 speed, like you have mentioned. Its not clear wheher it will have DX10 support either. Some people say it will, but others disagree.

Yeah, its gonna be an X1300 with DX 10 compatability which will probably yield a little more performance but still below many other DX 9 cards.

Well, AMD has kept their mouth tight. But we can know from history that the Xx300 class will be as powerful as the X(x-1)600 class. This is the first time i use math in a forum...

This came up about a week ago. I won't try to repeat everything again, I'll just say that no one really knows for sure. The only thing official that's been said is that it will come with the x2300. Neither Asus nor AMD/ATI has said anything about what the x2300 is. Best guess based on numbering scheme would be that is similar performance as a x1300 or x1400, but with DX10 support. The DX10 question is probably about 60% yes, 40% no. (Seeing as no one really knows I'll make up some numbers
) If you want to see all of our rambling and 2nd guessing each other

*drools over Centrino Pro + x2700 + vista + one of those fancy flash hard drive thinggys*.... -
My guess is DX10 GPU because ASUS said
1. The world’s first notebook series to utilize ATI Mobility Radeon X2300 graphics, the company announced.
2. Offer Certified for Windows Vista 3D graphics that supports the visually stunning Windows Aero user interface
Is ASUS also first to use go7700 and x1700? -
Neither indicates anything to do with DX10....Aero runs fine on DX8 and DX9 cards, and being the first notebook to use a card doesnt make that card DX10.
Actually, I remember seeing that this was a relabeled X1450 (M64). It shares the same basic product code, M64S; I have no idea what the specs are going to be. -
The DX10 spec removes the CAP bits flags - all DX10 hardware has to offer all DX10 functionality in hardware - with the exception of two things - anti-aliased rendering to offscreen buffers and something else I can't remember offhand.
If this card supports DX10 it will effectively have to be the same as nVidia's 8800. Likely? I don't think so.
Therer is an interesting document available from Microsoft on DX10 hardware requirements here -

The possibly legitimate benchmark of x2300 can be found here:

As for whether this is a DX10 card, I'm just too tired to read the awful transalation.

OK - looks like I should eat my words - Patrick Y's link appears to say it's a DX10 part.
It's a removeable graphics board - none of the images actually show any reference to DX10 - and the performance seems ordinary...
I guess we just have to wait and see... -
It says it's DX10, it says it get 1571 3DMark05s.
-
Oh well, it does say it's R600 + SM 4.0 + DX10 right. Guess the myth that x2300 is a reconditioned x1300 is busted.
