My laptop is doing an endless restart loop going from the asus logo startup screen to a blue screen saying laptop error, will restart pc, then repeating that whole cycle again.
I posted my problem on the windows os and software subforum and they told me to try f12 or whatever button brings me to the boot menu since shift f8 doesn't seem to work for me.
I tried pushing f12 but it doesn't seem to work either. Does anyone know how to access the boot menu?
Thanks

The OS could be corrupted, or the SSD might be defective.
Do you have any OS installation disc available that you can use? Boot into the installation screen and see if the drive is accessible or not using Command Prompt by pressing Shift + F10.
Some knowledge of DOS is needed to verify this, and you will also be able to save your data assuming the SSD is still intact.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask and we will try to help you. -
I read for a Samsung laptop with the same problem, I could disconnect the ssd drive and then there wlll be the option to boot from the flash drive. Before booting from flash drive, the instruction says to reconnect the ssd. That fixed the same problem on a Samsung laptop but it has it's own special recovery program.
Do you think that would work for the asus? -

But I suppose you can create a bootable USB flash drive with Windows OS on it so you can boot up with it.
Press F12 during boot to select a boot device to boot for a temporary override. -
Does anyone remember that admin cmd prompt command that checks if your windows has some errors in it?
Good news is I got my laptop working again - but I want to make sure there aren't any corruptions I'm missing.
Bios button is either f2 or f3 on asus ux31a touch (no need to push function button). I pressed both of those softer alternating between them and it finally worked. Must have been pushing them too fast or something the first time around, don't know - at least it finally worked. -

Go to Start, then type chkdsk and press enter then it will scan your system.
Alternatively, you can do it through Windows Explorer by right-clicking on the C drive, select Properties, click on Tools, click on Check now from the Error-checking section.
You will have to reboot the system to allow the scanning to initiate since it cannot scan the system drive while it's in the Windows mode. -
I was thinking sfc /scannow.
But I'll run that check too. Thanks a lot for all your help. -
