i have a V1S. i'm searching hopelessly (at this point) for an assembly guide, but i've taken apart laptops before -- just some instructions on where to start would be nice. there seems to be a pannel on the bottom for the RAM but i take the screws out and nothing comes off. In the adjacent pannel, surely where the CPU is, some screws dont come off either (i loosen them but they wont come off.) Next to them is a symbol that looks like this: K>

I tried taking the keyboard off, but i'm helpless here too. I pushed in the top notches, then something in the middle is holding it in. I don't want to break my new laptop, someone help!

the K> screws are for the keyboard.
I've heard people had to pull a bit harder on the memory compartment door to get it open.

If the two doors (CPU, memory) are next to each other try to remove them in sequence (CPU then memory, and if this doesn't work, memory then CPU). That screw SHOULD come of if it's unscrewed.

Ok, the deal is that you have to remove the 5 screws holding on the panel covering the CPU - including the one labelled K>.

Once they are out you then stick a thin screwdriver into the recess at the front edge of the CPU panel and prise it up - you may have to lever quite hard the first time, but still take care.

The big panel has latches on both sides, and lugs on the back edge - what I did was to prise up the front and then carefully work my way back down both sides, alternating sides as I went. This meant I didn't overstress any of the latches. Once they were all popped out I then slid the panel forward slightly and 'opened' it like a lid.

You then need to prise off the memory cover from behind - again, use a thin screwdriver and carefully prise in from the outside edges. It should then pop off - the lugs on this one are at the front of the laptop to be careful not to break them.

If you still have difficulty I can try putting a guide together, but it might take a few days.
