What do you use to clean your screen?

Is it there when the notebook is off?

it's only there when the screen is on. i just use paper towel & water to clean the screen.

Hmmm, it's kinda hard to see. Can you get a shot of the screen off, and perhaps another picture of the smudge?

Water and a cloth should easily clean anything off, but in your case it doesn't seem like it.

Yah you probably should not do that. Now when you say smear, does that mean it is just on the surface, cus that can come off with a little anti-static cleaner and a cleaning cloth. Otherwise, if that is in the screen or visibile when you display pictures and such, than maybe you pushed too hard on the screen.

well it looks like oil stains to me .. not exactly sure (it's the discoloring on the screen) .. but there is one line going diagonally and one going vertically as in that picture. the vertical one is more of a blob. they aren't visible when the screen is off, but i'll try and get a better picture to show it .. but it's black so it's hard. it doesn't seem like it's something on the outside, but rather in the inside.

if it's something to do with the screen itself, what should i do?

Was it always there? It's not normal.

You may want to contact ASUS to RMA it because that doesn't look nice to look at.
