hello everyone i'm new to this website and have couple questions for the purchase i made for ASUS G50V-X5
so i bought this G50V from newegg.com with $1149.99 ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220490)
and received the product yesterday i was happy with the performance it provided me when i played L4D
BUT i found that there's a successor of G50V called ASUS G50VT-X5 that cost only $999.99 from Best Buy
( http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...oduct&id=1218044029168#tabbed-customerreviews)
according to the comparison btw the 2 products using cnet reviews,
( http://reviews.cnet.com/4504-4_7-0.html?id=33496181&id=33514528&tag=contentBody;compare)
produces a conclusion that shows the following differences:
1.Asus G50V-X5 has
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 / 2.4 GHz
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce 9700M GT - 512 MB
cost: USD $1149.99
2.Asus G50VT-XT has
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo P7450 / 2.13 GHz
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce 9800M GS - 512 MB
cost: USD $999.99
this shows an obvious fact that G50VT outperforms G50V... (when it comes to gaming performance i guess..)
one thing that really irritates me(since i already made a purchase for G50V) is that g50v has seeming inferior spec but cost $150 MORE THAN its successor g50vt.
** My questions(more like a complain...) may be basing on wrong information so if that's the case please correct me:
1. Shouldn't G50V (the original one) cost LESS than G50VT?? since it has a noticeably inferior spec compare to G50VT??? any idea?
2. if its successor, G50VT, cost much less with much better performance, shouldn't the original G50V have gone obsolte and no longer produced for consumers's good?
3. would there be some reason why G50V HAS TO COST $150 MORE THAN the G50VT? (maybe display issues/ battery durability/ O/C / overheating issues?)
i'm situation in which i can't request for refund so i just wanted to know if there's some pros about G50V over G50VT...
sorry if my questions bothered or confused any of you.. i'm looking forward to see the answers /lots of opinions shared on this issue. thanks for reading my thread! ^^

Best buy has to keep up with current tech ALL the time. So they may get credit for product they do not sell, even after reducing......maybe.
Or maybe BB got a killer deal if they bought XXX ammount from Asus direct.
I want to say BB is a teir 1 distrubtor.....that means they buy factory direct.....newegg.com is a buy from warehouse dealer.....not factory direct so that would make them a teir 1 distrubtor
im heading to best buy to see if they have any more in stock, as i may just pick one up -
thanks for reply but one thing i didn't understand
what does "teir 1 distrubtor" mean?? i'm am not used to terms like that so sorry. -
The G50VT you listed specs for is the X-6 from Newegg which goes for $1299. The Best Buy model only has a 2.13Hz processor and a 1366x768 resolution LCD.
There's nothing superior about your notebook, sorry. A little research would've helped you out. Why can't you request a refund? -

Battletop, it isn't as bad as it seems. The version from BB is not the X5 that your review mentions:
It has a 1366x768 screen like the Newegg one, and a slower processor--2.16Ghz (the P7450 if I'm not mistaken).
In the end, the only drawbacks of the Newegg one are the slightly (about 35%) slower video card and a slightly lower capacity battery.
In addition to the faster processor, the Newegg version comes with a far better warranty by all accounts (it's from Asus, whereas the BB version comes with only a limited BB warranty).
Probably the only game out right now where you might notice a significant difference due to the video card is Crysis, though even there the faster processor will mitigate that. -

since it has slower clock speed (2.13hz) wouldn't that be a reason why it cost less? (although i know 9800m gs cost much more than 9700m gt)
well from the link for G50V from newegg ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220490) on the return&refunds tap it says "Return for refund within: non-refundable".... (deep sigh) that's why i said that. -
thanks for pointing out my error i fixed the product infos.

send it back and get a asus g50vt(any version) the gaming difference is huge the processor difference isn't

Open it up, break something, then ask if you can pay the difference for an upgrade to the G50VT X-6.
i purchased Asus G50V-X5 yesterday and have a serious question about it
