so i had the A8JP. the paint qualityh was horrible and it faded within a month (mousepad), and palm rest (3 months). the screen latch also got all messed up. before i sent it in for warranty im like oh what the hell, why dont i just buy the G1s. So i did. i was experiencing studdering problems when playing warcraft, so i download nview only to find out that it was running at 110oC. i called and sure enough they told me to send it in...

While I do not have a G1s, I do not think it is normal. That is awfully high, because my G1 only goes to 80 max. But then again you have an 8600 gt whilst I only have the lowly 7700 :-(

Sorry if that didn't help much. But maybe you could try getting a laptop cooler to help lower those temps.

The 7700 should produce as much heat. 90nm rather than 80nm and power consumations are about the same.

No harm in trying. It also sounds like this guys' unit is defective, or maybe the fans are really clogged up.

Asus will very likely consider that normal wear, given the location and the time since purchase, rather than a functional or manufacturing defect. Still, as noted it will only cost you the time to call them to ask.
