There are six icons (with operating lights) inscribed at the edge of laptop frame, just below the touchpad. The manual does not describe their function or use.

The first icon is a light bulb.
The second icon is a rectangle with a diagonal line across it.
The third icon appears to be a round cylinder.
The fourth icon appears to be a symbol indicating wireless use.
The fifth and sixth icons are padlocks, the number 1 on the first and the letter A on the second.

Can anyone explain the purpose of these icons?

These are not documented because they are standard icons, much like a play/pause/fast forward/reverse buttons on VCRs and DVD players.

This tells you your computer is on.

This shows you the state of the battery, if it's green it's charged, red/orange it's charging, blinking it's at a critical level.

This shows you hard drive activity.

This tells you if your wireless is enabled or disabled.

This is for number lock (numlock) and capitals lock (capslock)

    There you have it.
