Im really sad that i have to return to this laptop, its just got too much issues with it, the latest one being audio popping way too much and the screen flickering slightly (like changing brightness one level up and down really quickly).

I was quite happy with the performance of this notebook, its really amazing, but its the second g50v in 2 weeks, so im not sure if im gonna get another one.

I might look another way, probably toshiba or something.

I would advise everyone to stay away from the g50vt for a while, they really have a lot of problems...

    Cheers.

Thats really disappointing... this notebook looks like it has a lot of potential. It sound like it is all software, so maybe we just need to give asus some time to work out the kinks.

Does this notebook have an ambient light sensor? If so, the flickering may have been due to bad light sensor drivers (it's my feeling they are not really working as intended, since nearly everyone turns them off).

Crap, i just unplugged my computer from the AC adapter and the cracking/popping is gone.

Im quite sure my house is not properly grounded (i tested outlets with a grounding indicator). So im guessing the problem is that.

Anyone know how to ground a single contact just to verify this?

or UPS, that's what a friend does because of his houses bad power grip. Then again his is a desktop and has a 700w PSU, your notebooks battery should be able to act as a UPS.

nah I just tried it in a grounded UPS, it still making annoying cracks and pops....

im taking this thing back. Sadly I dont have many other options if I want something from best buy.

Its either the gateway FX,which im not getting again, size is really annoying, especially the battery, the toshiba qosmio which has got great specs but just because of the UGLY design im staying as far away from it as possible, and the asus which is the perfect balance of everything.... sigh

Il probably ask for another asus and have it tested in the store before I leave or something.

Well if the problems are due to bad grounding, then the replacement may very well work fine in the store, and work equally poorly at your house... :(

nah, like I said, its not bad grounding... just tested in a properly grounded outlet.

besides, running on battery lowers the cracks and pops but does not get rid of them, still annoying.

this just in... the headphone jack is not working anymore lol... I plug something in and you can barely hear the audio behind a lot of loud cracks and pops. Maybe its just the headphone jack that was faulty since the beginning...

god this laptop is falling to pieces :p

Im gonna take it back tomorrow
