W2JB, 17", WXGA+, which is not that bad, comparing with W2V, alot brighter, you will see them side by side, and has some new buttons which are not on W2V for easy control, actually pictures are very sharp and vivid.

Also, the Asus tablet will be available in July, we should see both barebone and ensemble, don't know how much it will cost yet.

To be safe, now just treat V1J coming to NA as rumor for now.

A8J barebone version still no news, totally depends on how Taiwan thinks, Asus NA cannot really control too much

I want a tablet with a dedicated graphics card...

The mouse button and pad look a little cheap to me on the S6.

Danny do you mind linking the pics to imageshack with thumnails. My screen is so messed up right now. I have to scroll alot since those
    pics are huge.
    Thanks.

I took these pictures on a notebook dealer meeting today, on the meeting I talked to Asus NA notebook PM about the XGA topic, he said not only us, every multimedia notebook in the universe has XGA screen....

IBM, Fujitsu and LG were also there. When the IBM guy doing the 15 minute speech, he had a thinkpad in his hand and introduced it to us, suddenly he THREW the notebook on the floor and stepped on it and then started to jump on the notebook at least 4 times, after all these torture, the notebook was still working :p, I was very shocked on this.
He said Lenovo will start releasing $600 notebook soon with solid quality, but we don't jump on it, step on it gentlly still has no problem.

I just realized there is no LG notebook distributors and resellers in US, I think I will bring them over to US in couple of months, actually LG notebooks are very stylish, not below Asus, and US buyers can get warranty from LG USA.

let me stop here, off topic of this forum too much already, sorry guys.

Reminds me of a ThinkPad frisbee contest I saw a while back, they were giving away a ThinkPad to the person who threw it the closest to the marked spot :p

An elderly man won it, he hit the mark right on, the Rep picked up the notebook, handed it to him along with a messenger bag with the cords and goodies!

edit: Any news or pics of possible S96j lids?

Z96J has camera, just very small, hard to see. on top center

It does not look the same as the S96j. The S96j has a two circles, one a lens and one a sensor. It also says mega pixel. What does the Z96j have in device manager for Imaging devices? The S96j has the BisonCam, NB Pro.

    Thanks!

What do u guys think about the price for A8JM? I am considering DV2000 right now. A lot cheaper, good look, great screen, webcam, great autonomy.

Only A8Jm has a DVI out. I still think A8Jm is a bit overpriced.

i definitely don't think it's overpriced at about $1600 u.s. considering that it has such a high powered gpu in such a small form factor with the t2400 and a gig of ram. it's not fair to compare the hp with an asus b/c asus's build quality is much better. i wouldn't be surprised if the asus also had a better screen as well.

So we won't be seeing an S6 without the leather here in Canada anytime soon? They darker brown option isn't that bad, but I'd prefer a plainer version. This S6 is going to be the nicest ultra-ultra portable on the market when it hits (in my opinion). The built in optical drive and proposed specs are going to make this little guy a wonder for people on the move who demand the best. :)

for $1570 USD or $1730 CDN dollars, i think its not overpriced, but it isnt the deal-of-the-year either. keep in mind it IS a go7600 gpu that, if i recall correctly isnt soddered in or something, rendering it upgradable.

A little sad about the bluetooth, but still gettin it.

ummm....i'm pretty sure the a8jm isn't upgradeable. gpus are only upgradeable if they are mxm/axiom. the 7600go in the a8jm i believe, is not.

Just like the go6600 in the Z71V, this go7600 is not MXM. It is asus propritery module.

Nope. All 512MB of the go7600 exists on the Graphics Module Card. The Go7600 doesnt use Turbo Cache which is the use of system memory.

    yep, TFT = Thin-film transistor
never seen acronym for glossy.. just the term every brand makes up for their version.. crystal view, color shine, bright view, reflecto-glass ..
