I have just gotten a ux32vd on which I'd like to install Windows 7 using a USB drive. This is proving more difficult than I anticipated, though, because now several hours have passed and I've gotten exactly nowhere, even after reading many threads with similar topics and trying various suggestions.
The place I can't move past is the "where do you want to install Windows?" screen.
When I first got here I saw a large number of partitions. I deleted them all. Now There are only two displaying:
Disk 0 Unallocated Space 0 MB (I don't know what this is and I can't do anything with it)
Disk 1 Partition 1 465.8 GB System
When I selection Disk 1 and press next I receive the message:
"Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system partition."
I have tried a number of different suggestions I've read about such as loading the USB 3 drivers, and booting from a partitioning program and partitioning there, but nothing has worked.
On a side note, I thought maybe Windows 7 was hopeless and so I gave up and tried to install Windows 10 from another USB drive. This turned out to be even less successful, as I could not even get the WIndows 10 installer to load. Instead I just got a screen covered with vertical lines.
Second note: I receive an MBR MISSING message if the computer tries to boot up without the USB drive
Thanks for any help you can give to get me past this issue.
