if i own gateway p7805-u(1920x1200 screen, intel x9100 extreme processor)?
i bought this gateway laptop back in january and so far, i had zero problems
with it. is it even worth upgrading to g51 best buy edition? i don't care about design and i hear g51 has horrible speaker just like p7805-u if not worse. also it's smaller more portable but much lower resolution and worse
cpu. only thing i like about it is, it has gtx 260m in it. can i even consider it
upgrade? as far as i know gtx 260m only has like 5-10% improvement over
    9800m gts.

btw, i convinced my friend buying g51 best buy edition and he did yesterday.
what's the best processor he can put it in there? i saw it uses pm45 board
so does that mean i can put t9900 or possibly x9100 in it too?

p.s. when does 3mp or higher web cam come out? does anyone know?

In my opinion, its not worth to upgrade to the G51. I would wait for the 300M series GPU's. Paired up with mobile I5/7 CPU will give good performance.
The 9800M GTS is enough for now, and should do fine with games in a year or so.

Yes, these are the two fastest CPU's which can be put into the RX05.

i've had both g51s with the 9800 and the 260, i'd say stick it out unless your selling your old notebook and not taking a loss. The only diff i noticed was from the 1gig memory which made some games run smoother, like total war and company of heroes.

I agree with the others, especially considering the fact that your FX has the WUXGA screen.

If you're interested in the G51, but can wait three more weeks, I would suggest waiting for the G51J. It will have the most advance processor and it would be cheaper than purchasing a G51 from Best Buy along with a separate processor upgrade.

I have 7811 and was thinking the same thing.

I decided to wait for either a 4860 or a new ATI 5000 series instead. Its hard to keep up.

call me crazy but i don't like ati gpu anymore..
however, gtx 300 series seem so far away.
i mean ati already released radeon 5870 for desktop
so they might release mobile version in few months or so
but nvidia hasn't even released gtx 300 series even for
desktop yet. if they don't have 300 series yet even for
desktop when will they ever release 300 series for laptop?
i am guessing like summer 2010 or later. gahh..
    i can't wait.
