cause if it is than a c90 could run crysis on ultra. doubt it is though. I really have no idea.

Why are you comparing a GPU to a CPU?! They are completely different things!!!
-
I dont get wats happening here!!
Why on earth are we comparing a processor and a graphics card??? -
hahaha , funny thread!
-
At this rate, i guess the day where Hdds and soundcards are compared head to head is not far away!!
-
-
LOL the title really makes little sense. its like asking which is better a 17" LCD or a wireless keyboard?
-
are u referring to a money issue? Like which you should get for the money?
-
lowpower I'm afraid you'll have a hard time trying to figure out what he meant ^^
-
haha, I love this thread
-
Got me laughing here
Nice one!
-
Hey, at least we're comparing two processors together. So what if they are optimised for different types of processing? It's an interesting question, in THAT case...
-
Hey, stop mocking the poor guy...maybe he really just didn't know?
At the risk of taking his post seriously, here's some info that might help:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gpu
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cpu
The C90s will be able to have both the E6600 as its processor and the Geforce 8600M GT. However, for a game, the bottleneck would be the GPU - in this case the 8600M GT. The article you linked used a desktop w/ a Geforce 8800 GTS - which is a far far superior graphics card.
You are not going to be able to play Crysis at ultra-high settings on the current setup of the C90s. There's probably no hard evidence to support this assertion, but it's very likely true. For lower settings at lower resolutions, who knows?
The GPU of the C90s may be upgraded in the future though. -

Maybe something along the lines of whats more important a gpu or cpu upgrade... or something like that.
For games the gpu is always more important as long as you have a semi capable cpu to pair it with. -
i like this post

C90 will be bottlenecked by the GPU, but I think this GPU will be able to handle at least medium settings on native res at a fast clip. Then it will be at least a little bit upgradible.
-
Yes the 8600 GT will be better than a C2D E600 for folding@home
<-- you can save the world
All of you are off topic. -
Guys, I think his question is which is the better investment?!
-
either that or he's still learning about computers. Stop acting like everyone who comes on to these forums are suppose to be all knowledgeable about hardware. I know that what he said was silly, but chill out...
-
It could just be to get all of us in a frenzy...
-
I think the OP meant the title as 'Is the Geforce 8600GT 512 MB better with a core 2 duo e6600?'...
Somebody who can get 8600GT and core 2 duo e6600 spelled correctly and match that with a C90 is not acting silly or is a noob abt computer hardware.. Just a syntax mistake that's causin all this confusion!
Haah, i c that sombdy has dealt the poor soul with a negative rep too for this!! -

I re-uped him because I knew what he meant, I guess my rep out did whoever put him down.

; ; you never upped me Alex! *sad*
BTW, did you ever look at the rock Pegasus 670 yet?

[this thread was derailed far before we started having a personal conversation, I answered his question on page 2.]
Yes I did, I actually found myself liking the Rock Xtreme 770 a lot more!! (8700M GT GPU!!!!), but I pulled the trigger a while ago on the C90, I was just hesitant to say anything in case I decided to cancel the order. I have it shipping overnight, so I might be able to get it first! Maybe a Review?

[this thread is still derailed.] -
Hrm, the Xtreme 770 is a Clevo m570ru.
Try sagernotebooks.com, or xoticpc.com or powernotebooks.com.
It's listed as the Sager NP5790 - far far cheaper than what you'd have to pay at rockdirect, and without the international shipping.
It won't have the 8700M until August though
Congrats on your c90 though! I'm sure you'll love it. -

My 2nd day here I was answering some guys question's in a thread and he was new and didnt know how to work the rep system, he pmed me thank you and everything but gave me negative rep, probably messed up and hit the wrong selection. -
*Ahem*

sorry, I get carried away sometimes.

Personally I think you will need a very powerful GPU and a midrange GT series Nvidia card to run Crysis on medium settings.
-
I say crysis Will stress CPU a lot but anything abouve e6300 is gold.
GPU will come into play mostly. -
Anyway, to the OP, if you're going for a pure gaming machine and 15.4" is the limit in size that you can go, the c90s is the best you can get for gaming. -
How do you all figure he'll be able to put together a C90 without being able to tell the difference between a CPU and GPU?
Actually.... I agree with everyone else. Go buy a C90 and tell us how it goes! Be sure to include every detail. -
He wouldn't have to do it himself. Any of the Asus retailers here would assemble it and give their own warranty on it for him.
As for upgrading the GPU later, if he can't do it himself, I'm sure he could just ship it back to the retailer and ask them to do it for a slight fee.
is the GeForce 8600 GT 512MB better than a Core 2 Duo E6600 processor?
