Try upgrading the bios to version 209 it should take care of the keyboard lag... also there is a new hotkey driver which goes along with it. There are a number of threads if you search for keyboard lag.

Also no the keyboard doesn't light up... just the buttons at the top and the periphery of the touchpad

The file is a ZIP with a ROM inside of it. You extract that somewhere and go to start->programs->asus utiltity->winflash to upgrade the bios.

Try one of these download locations:

    http://dlsvr02.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/G50V/G50V209as.zip

    http://dlsvr03.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/G50V/G50V209as.zip

    http://dlsvr04.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/G50V/G50V209as.zip

You should install the new hotkey driver immediately after rebooting with the new BIOS. Try one of these locations:

    http://dlsvr02.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/Apps/ATK_Hotkey__080912.zip

    http://dlsvr03.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/Apps/ATK_Hotkey__080912.zip
